The Heat2Battery consortium is pleased to welcome CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials as a new partner, joining the project through the WIDERA programme. This addition further strengthens the consortium by expanding its expertise in advanced characterisation and modelling of battery materials.
CICECO will contribute with cutting-edge local-scale analysis of battery materials and full battery stacks under realistic operating conditions. Their work will rely on state-of-the-art scanning probe microscopy techniques, including electrical, mechanical, and thermal modes, enabling highly detailed investigations at the nano- and mesoscale.
Through this approach, the team will study key phenomena such as phase transitions, proton transport pathways, and mechanical degradation, with the goal of understanding how these factors influence battery performance and durability at temperatures reaching up to 300 °C.
The integration of CICECO’s expertise will support the development of more reliable and efficient high-temperature energy storage solutions, contributing to the overall objectives of the Heat2Battery project.
